WHERE THE FISH LIVE As we Charter Captains here in Panama City Beach love to say "If you've gone ten miles offshore you've driven over the top of more fish than you could catch in a lifetime". Finding their hiding places is the trick. Fish like to move based on many factors such as wind direction and velocity, tidal movement, current direction and strength, moon phase, water depth and temperature, etc., etc. So, don't count on them to be in the same place every time you go fishing. In fact, just to be totally honest about this type of fishing, you could get skunked on the whole list on any given day. I hope not! The Charter Fleet here prides itself in having probably the most productive fishing grounds on the entire Gulf Coast. Trolling for King Mackerel and other game fish or casting to big Cobia or Dolphin (Mahi-Mahi) is great fun but the industry was not built on that style of fishing. Reefs and Wrecks are the primary reason for the tremendous success the Charter Captains have in satisfying our visitors desire for action and great table fare year after year. The keys to that success are the valuable numbers accumulated through years of hard fishing, and hunting and marking and recording. Just remember to keep a close watch on that bottom machine of yours and start marking those interesting "blips" you run over now and then. If there aren't fish there today they could be there tomorrow.Good targeting and good fishing to you on this wonderful Emerald Coast. |
